On December 6 Downtown Miami will sparkle with events and happenings. Take a break from the parties and the cocktails of Miami Beach and enjoy the openings and the performaces downtown.
The Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation hosts the traditional private bruch; the event is by invitation only but everybody is welcome to see Valeska Soares‘ interactive sculpture at the Art Space Piazza and the show Permission To Be Global / Prácticas Globales.
Later on if you are heading to Kevin Arrow‘s show, Overhead, at Dimensions Variable, you will be able to see also a special performance by duo Jan & Dave, at 8pm. Jan Weingarten and Dave Kudzma aka “Jan & Dave” grew up in Miami, their work is descended from artists they were closely associated with such as Mike Kelley and Skip Arnold. Although their performances are based on songs they compose, at any juncture the spectacle could depart into a Fluxus or Viennese Actionism inspired tangent.
The triangular art project Ping Pong based in Basel, Los Angeles and Miami, doubled this year its presence in Miami with a space in the Design District and one Downtown Miami. The downtown space holds a special opening event from 6pm to 10pm.
