Arco Madrid 2014

Halls 7 & 9, Feria de Madrid

The International Contemporary Art Fair, Arco Madrid will be held this year February 19 – 23 for the 33rd year in the midst of a climate of more optimism and confidence.

The improvement of the major economic indicators, along with tax reforms for purchasing art, paint some favourable conditions for activating the art market, to which the Fair contributes with an important programme of activities for international promotion directed towards collectors, prescribers and institutions of the main artistic markets.

With a budget of 4.5 million euros, Arco Madrid will invest 20% in international actions aimed at boosting sales. Therefore, actions to foster relationships with collectors from important markets like Germany, Belgium, Spain and Brazil, as well as international promotion, will be in addition to guest programs that will bring to Madrid more than 250 collectors and 150 heads of institutions, commissioners of biennials and other international prescribers from the world of art.

Arco Madrid is one of those fairs for discovering new talents, with more than 60 proposals dedicated to one or two artists. In total there will be around 220 galleries from 23 countries: 164 belong to the General Programme; 13 to #FocusFinland; 29 to #Opening and 21 #SoloProjects.

One of the most valued aspects of Arco Madrid is its convening power within the professional sphere and its recognition as a place where ideas and projects can be exchanged among guests, galleries and artists. On this occasion museum directors, biennial commissioners and other relevant professionals who will be involved in different fields and programmes in the Fair have been invited.

Arco Madrid will also welcome the 3rd Meeting of Museums of Europe and Latin America. Along with the usual full program of events, professional meetings, forums and talks, city’s galleries and museums will display their best exhibits during the fair days.

Additionally, a space in the fair building will be set aside for the little ones in the ARCOkids workshops, which, designed by the Fundación Pequeño Deseo and promoted by DKV Insurance, will bring the children closer to the contemporary art world.
