Untitled

Miami Beach

Untitled, this year on its second edition, is an innovation of the traditional art fair model placing emphasis on the quality of the viewer’s experience and the contextualization of the artworks exhibited.

Housed in a customized beachfront pavilion designed by internationally recognized architecture firm K/R, the fair presents a selection of international galleries and not-for profit spaces, positioned side by side to create a less segregated fair installation.

Curated for the second time running by Omar Lopez-Chahoud, Untitled 2013 will present works of emerging and midcareer contemporary artists from approximately 90 exhibitors from 19 countries, including Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Panama, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, the UK and the US.

This edition presents a dynamic range of performances, special installations and talks that reinforce its dedication to presenting a diverse selection of contemporary art within a fair environment. Highlights include: an interactive solar sculpture byBjörn Schülke that will float gently within the pavilion space, powered entirely on sunlight; a new large-scale sculpture Tafheet (Rack), by artist JPW3 consisting of a large rim rack displaying the artist’s signature wheels, produced from discarded candles;  worsk by Tamara Ke, Alice Könitz, Luis Alfonso Villalobos,Virginia Colwell, artists from Untitled‘s inaugural edition who were awarded a month-long residency from Fountainhead Residency in Miami. A conversation between Tod Lippy, Editor/Executive Director of Esopus and Sina Najafi, Co-Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Cabinet will share their experiences producing nonprofit arts publications; an interactive, multimedia performance at the water’s edge by Miami’s TM Sisters, featuring geometric projections, light and sound; a conversation with LaToya Ruby Frazier presented by the Aperture Foundation; a new video installation by Santigo Sierra and a video performance by Jacolby Satterwhite.
