Art Dubai Film presents a program of video and films by and about artists. Besides artists’ video shown in the gallery booths, the programme has included The Hatch, showing artists’ film and video in curated, thematic programmes. Moving Images is a new partnership between Dubai International Film Festival, Sharjah Art Foundationand Art Dubai, dedicated to artists’ films and filmmakers’ art in the Arab world.
Moving Images aims to increase access to, and the understanding of artists’ films; support artists and filmmakers from the Arab world through new opportunities; and debate existing and future models for funding and distribution through the UAE and beyond. The programme marks the first such initiative in the Arab world and begins with a discussion in December, part of Dubai Film Market’s discussion programme, involving speakers from across the worlds of art and film. The partnership continues throughout the year, with screenings in Dubai and Sharjah, and with specifically-curated programmes at the Sharjah Art Foundation and Art Dubai in March 2014.
